Join us!

Come along and join us for our annual Dragon Boat Event

At Manvers Lake, we’ve proudly hosted both National and Charity Dragon Boat Events for several years, building a reputation for delivering unforgettable experiences. Our events are led by certified helms, a dedicated safety team, and experts ready to guide you bank side.

Gather your team of paddlers (and a drummer) and join us on Saturday, June 21, 2025, for a fun-packed day that’s perfect for the whole family! Each team will compete in timed heats, with at least two races guaranteed and a possible third, depending on team numbers.

The event is free for all spectators, and we’ll have an array of food stalls, local vendors, and family-friendly activities to enjoy throughout the day. Plus, for the adults, a licensed bar will be available on-site. Don’t miss out on a fantastic day by the lake!

The day will end with a presentation to the top two teams. The team who come 1st & 2nd will receive medals and trophies to keep. The winners will also receive their name engraved on the coveted Manvers Lake Charity Shield, which will be displayed on site for all to see. The winning team will also receive £400 donation to their chosen charity or non-profit organisation. Teams can then also set up their own fundraising/sponsorship independently (create online donations pages such as JustGiving) and raise money that way for their charity of choice too if they wish.

Come along and join in the fun-filled frantic frolics of Dragon Boating!

What do we need to take part?

  • Teams need 16 paddlers plus one drummer (you can paddle with 14 but will be at a slight disadvantage).

  • To take part, participants must be over the age of 18 to paddle and 16 to be a drummer.

  • You will take part in a minimum of two timed heats, with the fastest progressing to a semi final and then a superb final!

  • Team entry is £400 per boat.

  • We encourage teams to make the most of the day and join in our activities or host their own stalls.

  • If you have any further question please see our FAQs or email hello@manversevents.co.uk

If you require a PO number on your invoice please email us.

Testimonials

We turned up to the Manvers Dragon Boat Charity Shield Event today with 1 thing in mind: have fun, regardless of result, after all, it was a charity event. The idea of getting into the final was just that... a lovely idea, but after a couple of races we realised it was a potential reality. Never did we think we’d have not one, but TWO teams in the final! So it’s fair to say we had a perfect end to what was an incredible day. We laughed. We cheered. We celebrated. And we took home Gold AND Silver!! Huge thank you to everyone that came out today to take part and support, and to Manvers Lake for organising such a great event. We’ll be seeing you again next year!

Barnsley Barbell

We’ve had such an incredible day at our first Charity Dragon Boat Race at Manvers Lake & Dearne Valley Trust today. We had five wonderfully competitive teams who rowed with all their hearts and might! A huge thank you to everyone from 'The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust' who took part. Three teams got to the semi finals! Whoopwhoop! We’ll be back next year to hopefully claim the top spot!

The Rotherham Hospital & Community Charity

We had an amazing day, thank you for all you do to support our local communities and thank you to everyone who supported the day! Well done Barnsley Barbell for being incredible sports and your generosity giving back from your win, truly inspiring.

Barnsley Hospital Charity

I haven't enjoyed myself as much as that for a long time. Absolutely cracking day had by all.
