When booking a team/boat, what does the price include?Entry into the race (at least 2 races of the 200m course) Equipment provided (Dragon Boat, safety vests, paddles, drum and drumsticks).

How many people are needed in a team?Teams need 16 paddlers and a drummer to keep the rhythm. If you can’t gather 16 people together, don’t worry, it is recommended to have a minimum of 14 plus the drummer. You must be over 18 to paddle and 16 to take part as the drummer.

What do we need to do in preparation for the day?• Decide a team name • Gather your team (16 paddlers + Drummer) • Get your gazebo, table, chairs

What time should our team arrive?The racing will start at 10.00am, participants will need to arrive earlier between 8:30-9am to set up any gazebos they wish to bring along. Team registration is from 8:30 - 9:30am. Each paddler needs to register and sign a disclaimer.

Do I have to have done this before?No experience is necessary, as long as the team listens to the instructions & can work well together as a team you'll be fine. We can train you on the day – working together and timing is key! One of our team cannot swim, is this ok?That isn't a problem as everyone has to wear a buoyancy aid which we will supply. We also have a colour marker on the buoyancy aid to highlight any non-swimmers to the safety crew. Please notify the boat/team loading crew.

Do you supply Buoyancy aids?Yes all safety equipment will be provided.

Is there anyone who can’t participate?No, as long as you are able to self-transfer and can use your upper body and listen/respond to instructions.

Who can take part?Anyone! Groups of friends, sports clubs, work colleagues, families - all are invited to fire up their inner dragon! No previous dragon boat racing experience required!

How many Races will we get?You will get a minimum of 2 races (weather permitting), then if you progress to the next stages there will additional races - a semi-final and a final.

How long will the event take?The event will start at 10:00am until 4:00pm. These timings are approximate, dependant on how many teams enter.

Is there car parking available?Each team will be allocated a car parking pass which permits one car into the boathouse car park. The rest of the team will need to park in the events car park and walk across the blue bridge over Manvers Way to access the site. All public will need to park in the events car park.

What should I wear?It is recommended that all competitors wear lightweight clothing such as shorts, exercise leggings, T-shirt and trainers for racing - ideally clothes suitable for the gym, that are quick drying. Most importantly, make sure you have some sensible footwear absolutely no flip flops allowed. You are also advised not to wear jeans/denim as they become heavy when wet.

Is food available to purchase onsite?Yes. There is an onsite cafe and food vendors attending. Teams cannot bring external caterers onsite. Teams are not permitted to bring a BBQ onsite to man themselves. You are able to bring food onsite with you to feed your team, this could be sandwich platters or cakes which are only consumed by your teams.

On the day are there any other attractions?Bring all the family for a fun filled day out, we will have stalls, fun attractions for children, face painting, and a bar onsite to keep you all entertained.

What is the plan for the day?The on-site cafe will be open throughout the event for all your food and drink needs alongside food vendors that will be attending. Team briefings will be delivered before your first race, everyone who will be on the boat needs to attend. Once the final race has finished we will have an award ceremony! You are more than welcome to bring a gazebo to have as a base for the day, a map of team area will be published.

I can't make it anymore. Is my registration transferable?Whilst we can't refund tickets, you are welcome to give your place to someone else to paddle in your place. Please make sure your teams list is updated and handed in with the full details of the person who will be paddling instead of you. If your whole team can no longer attend, then unfortunately no refunds can be given, you are more than welcome to try find someone else to take your boat and we will transfer the details across for a fee of £50 up to 14 days before the event.

Can out team bring alcohol to the event?We would ask our teams to refrain from bringing alcohol onsite and ask that any drinks are consumed after the racing. The onsite cafe sells alcoholic drinks and we have a licenced bar attending. However please note anyone who is intoxicated will be asked to leave and not be allowed on the boats. Safety of competitors is paramount.

Is it safe to get in the lake for a swim?No, under no circumstances must anyone get in the water. As we are running a dragon boat event, this is dangerous and anyone seen doing so will be asked to leave immediately.

What time do stall holders / vendors need to be set up by?Access is available from 7:30am and all stalls/vendors need to be set up by 9:30am.

When is Waves Music Festival?It will take place on Saturday 29th June 2024 from 12pm until 10:30pm.

Does Waves Music Festival do on-the-day tickets?A small number may be available on the day but this is not guaranteed.

What time do gates open?Gates to the event will open at 12pm. The first band will begin at 12:30pm.

What time does the site close?The final act will come off stage at 10:00pm and the festival site will close at 10.30pm. We ask politely that you respect the local residents as you make your way from the festival site.

What time is last entry?Last entry into the festival is 9:00pm

Is there parking available and how much does it cost?Parking is FREE at this event within our dedicated events car park. Charges are still applicable in our main car park.

What to bring / what not to bringWaves Music Festival is an open air event, so do please come prepared for whatever the good old British weather may throw at us - from raincoats to sun cream and blankets to sun hats! Fold-up chairs will be permitted however we do request that they be used in a specific area to the back of the site so as to allow those who wish to sit on the grass full visibility of the stage. Please do not be offended if our stewards ask you to move or pack away your chair should they feel it is in an unsuitable location. Children’s tents, tables, gazebos, windbreaks or any other tented structures WILL NOT be permitted. No ball games are allowed within the festival site.

What items are prohibited?Please do NOT bring the following items to the Waves Festival site. They will be confiscated, and you may be refused entry or ejected from the site if you are found to have them in your possession: Chinese lanterns Candles Sound systems Generators Animals, with the exception of guide dogs Glass items (including bottles, makeup containers and perfume) Golf umbrellas Disposable vapes Alcohol Drinks (sealed, unopened bottles of water and soft drinks will be accepted) Drones, quadcopters or any remote-controlled flying device. Portable laser equipment and pens Unofficial high vis jackets or tabards Illegal substances, psychoactive substances, nitrous oxide and legal highs Fireworks or flares Megaphones, airhorns, compressed air Aerosols (including but not restricted to deodorants, antiperspirants, hairspray, dry shampoo, spray paint) Portable or disposable barbeques/gas/paraffin lamps or any fire/gas related cooking equipment Smoke bombs, flag sticks or banners Signs or materials displaying political, religious, offensive or race-related messages, slogans or images Anything that could be reasonably considered for use as a weapon Professional camera or video recording equipment (including SLRs and anything with a detachable lens) Any objects bearing trademarks or other kinds of promotional signs and messages (of whatever nature) which we or any authorised person believes are for promotional purposes (and any Prohibited Items may be removed, confiscated and/or destroyed even if the item itself is not illegal without compensation at the discretion of any authorised person Conditions of entry and prohibited items are subject to change.

Will there be catering outlets on-site?Yes, there will be a selection of food and drink caterers on-site.

Can I bring my own food & drink?Sealed bottled water and soft drinks are fine, as are small snacks, let’s face it the kids may not want what's on offer, but please remember that safety is paramount. We can’t allow knives and forks, and glass is strictly banned. All bags must be smaller than A4 size. Larger bags will be permitted in special circumstances e.g for parents with young children. This will be at the discretion of the festival management team. There are no storage facilities for bags on-site. Alcohol is STRICTLY NOT PERMITTED as this is a licensed venue.

Can I bring my own alcohol?Due to licensing restrictions, you are not permitted to bring alcohol into the festival. There will be a range of alcoholic (and non-alcoholic) drinks available for purchase from our bar and catering outlets. Please note: Only alcohol purchased from the licensed bar may be consumed on site. If you attempt to bring alcohol in it will be confiscated.

Will there be a licensed bar?Yes, our bar will be open from 12pm until 10:00pm, just before the last act has finished on stage. We operate a strict Challenge-25 policy.

Will I need I.D.?At the bar: I.D. will be required. We operate a strict Challenge-25 policy. When applying for a Personal Assistant ticket, evidence will need to be provided on entry. This includes: · Front page of DLA / PIP (no specific rate) · Front page of Attendance Allowance letter (no specific rate) · Evidence that registered severely sight impaired (blind) · Recognised Assistance Dog ID card · Credibility’s Access Card

Can vehicles be left overnight?No. Please ensure you have a designated driver and your vehicle is removed from our events field car park once the concert is over. The gates will be locked at 11pm. Please note: People using the parking facilities do so purely at their own risk. Neither the organisers of Waves Music Festival nor Manvers Lake & Dearne Valley Trust will be responsible for any loss or damage caused to your vehicle.

Do under 16’s need to be accompanied by an adult?Yes, children aged 15 and under MUST be accompanied by an adult.

Do toddlers need a ticket?Children aged 4 and under do not need to be covered by a ticket.

Will I be able to come and go during the day?Yes. Upon arrival you will receive a wristband. Please keep hold of your original email ticket at all times. Should you wish to leave the festival site please present both wristband and ticket on re-entry. You must ensure your wristband remains intact to ensure re-entry is granted. If your wristband is damaged or removed you will not be permitted to re-enter the event. Please note: toilets and refreshments will all be available within the site so there should be no need to leave the space for any of these facilities.

Are there cash machines on-site?No. The nearest cash machines will be in Wath itself (Asda & Tesco’s). Card payments will be accepted for bar tokens and on certain concession stalls (some may be cash), but as card payment machines rely heavily on mobile phone signal we would always advise that you bring enough cash with you to enjoy the day.

Are there any facilities for the disabled?Disabled toilets will be available in the main festival site and blue badge holders can park at the Boathouse.

Are there camping facilities?We have a small number of pitches available for self contained camper vans. These need to be booked separately from the Waves Festival ticket. You must have a Waves Festival ticket in order to camp. No tents as there are no overnight facilities /toilets available.

Are BBQs allowed?No BBQs are allowed onsite.

Are dogs allowed to attend?Dogs are NOT permitted within the Festival site. Please do not bring your dog or you will be refused entry. Only guide dogs and assistance dogs are permitted on site.

Are there concessions available for a disabled persons carer?Once a standard ticket has been purchased, the carer is welcome free of charge. To qualify for a carer's ticket you must first purchase an event ticket . Then please email a copy of proof to info@manverslaketrust.co.uk This can be: Entitlement to Disability Living Allowance for children under 16 or DLA/Personal Independent Payments (PIP) for those aged 16-64, either in the form of a letter stating that the benefit has been awarded, or the actual Allowance book. Attendance Allowance or Carer's Allowance letter of award Incapacity Benefit books, or a letter notifying the recipient that the benefit has been awarded Incapacity Benefit, Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), Disability Students’ Allowance (DSA), or DID card (UK Disabled ID card). A valid Blue Badge In the case of visual impairment, a registration card known as the BD8 or a Certificate of Visual Impairment (CVI) Credibility’s Access Card with the carer/companion symbol An International Equivalent of the Above Should you require any specific assistance for this event, please notify us as soon as possible. Please be aware that the main arena is on a grassed area which may in parts be slightly uneven.

Can I obtain a refund for my ticket?Please note that all tickets to this event are non-refundable and non-transferable. Due to operational issues beyond our control (i.e. the weather), some advertised features/services may not always be available. In this unlikely situation, we are unable to offer refunds.

How will my image be used?By attending this event, you give your express consent to your actual/ simulated likeness to be included for no fee within any audio or visual recording to be used in any media for any purpose at any time. This includes filming by the police or security staff which may be carried out for the security of customers and/or the prevention of crime.

Public Safety InformationAnyone found in possession of drugs or weapons will be reported to the police and may face arrest. Anyone who is noticeably under the influence of alcohol, narcotics or any behaviour-modifying substance, or is behaving, or considered by any Authorised Person likely to behave, violently, harmfully or in a manner contrary to public order and/or safety will be refused entry to the site or will be ejected from the site. Anyone who, whilst within the site or vicinity thereof, engages in disruptive, dangerous or violent behaviour including (without limitation) throwing, casting, thrusting or propelling any object at any person, instigates violence, demonstrates racism or xenophobia, behaves in a way that any reasonable person may interpret as provocative, threatening, discriminatory and/or offensive, creates or poses any threat to the life or safety of themselves or any other person(s), or harms any other person(s) in any way, or unreasonably obstructs the viewing of other spectators; will be refused entry to the site or will be ejected from the site.
